Emergencies

Emergencies - Here for you 24/7

We know emergencies can happen at any time, we operate our own out-of-hours service and we're just a call away when your pet needs urgent attention.

If you have a veterinary emergency and the surgery is open, please call us to let us know what has happened and come to the surgery straight away. If the surgery is closed please call the normal surgery number to contact the vet on duty. When you call, be ready to provide essential information, such as your pet's symptoms, any potential toxins they may have been exposed to, and their current condition.

What is a Veterinary Emergency?

A veterinary emergency can encompass a range of situations, including but not limited to: .

  • Trauma or injury
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Ingestion of toxic substances
  • Severe or repeated vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Unexplained lethargy or collapse
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Seizures

If you're unsure about whether your pet needs immediate attention, please call us so our vet can advise you on the best course of action.

Out of hours emergency: What to expect

On contacting us, our vet will guide you through the next steps, which may include bringing your pet to the surgery. In some cases, we may offer advice on how to stabilise your pet at home until you can get to us. We are equipped to deal with a wide range of emergencies with urgency and expertise.

Fees

At Taylor Vets, your pet's well-being is our top priority, even outside regular hours. We want to ensure transparency and so it's important to note that for out-of-hours emergencies, additional call-out fees will apply alongside our standard consultation and treatment charges. While we strive to make our services as affordable as possible, these fees help us maintain our in-house emergency service and ensure your pet receives prompt and expert attention when it matters most.
